Class Descriptions and Dresscode

 

 

Pre Ballet/Tumbling:

3 - 4.5 yr olds (must be 3 by the first class)

45 min. per week

This class is for students who are 2 years away from starting Kindergarten. Students begin exploring movement in a "fun" way, learning the fundamental types of movements, using large motor skills, improving coordination and balance, and exploring movement through dramatics, music, song, stories, and group dynamics. Students perform in the recital in June and you purchase 1 costume.
 
Dresscode: Black or pink leotard, Pink Footed tights, Pink or Black Chiffon Ballet Skirt, Pink ballet shoes. All of these items are sold at the studio. 

 
Pre-K Ballet/Tap: 4.5-6 yr olds in preschool

(1 hr per week)

This class is for students who will be going into Kindergarten in Fall 2011 and are currently in preschool. Working on a continuum, students begin to learn the basics of ballet and tap. The focus is on small motor coordination skills, balance, rhythm and music skills, learning and remembering movements in a sequence, and understanding the concentration necessary to continue to grow as a dancer. Students perform in the recital in June and you purchase one ballet costume and rent one tap costume.  

Dresscode: Black short sleeve leotard, Pink Footed tights, Pink or Black Chiffon Ballet Skirt, Pink ballet shoes, Black button Tap Shoe (ribbon tie tap shoes not allowed).  All of these items are sold at the studio. 

 

Ballet/Tap: Kindergarten

(1 hr per week)

Must be in Kindergarten Fall 2011. These classes also work on a continuum focusing now on more self discipline and correct body placement for ballet, acquiring strength and flexibility, and developing poise and self confidence. They will perform in the Recital in June and you will purchase one ballet costume and rent one tap costume.

Dresscode: Black short sleeve leotard, Pink Footed tights, Pink or Black Chiffon Ballet Skirt, Pink ballet shoes, Black button Tap Shoes (ribbon tie tap shoes not allowed). All of these items are sold at the studio. 


 

 
Ballet/Tap 1A: 1st or 2nd gr.

(1 hr. per week)

This class is for returning students.

This is a Level 1A (advanced) ballet and tap class for our current students, working on self-discipline, body placement, acquiring strength and flexibility, learning ballet and tap vocabulary, and developing poise and self confidence. They will perform in the Recital in June and you will purchase one ballet costume and rent one tap costume.

Dresscode: Black short sleeve leotard, Pink Footed tights, Pink or Black Chiffon Ballet Skirt, Pink ballet shoes, Black button Tap Shoes (ribbon tie tap shoes not allowed). All of these items are sold at the studio. 

 

Ballet/Tap 2A: 3rd or 4th gr.

(1.5 hrs. per week)

This class is for returning students.

This is a Level 2A (advanced) ballet and tap class, working on self-discipline, body placement, acquiring strength and flexibility, learning ballet and tap vocabulary, and developing poise and self confidence. Beginning Ballet/Tap: 1st-6th gr

(1 hr or 1.5 hrs per week)

This class is for new students.

This beginning level is for students new to our school with little or no experience,working on self-discipline, body placement, acquiring strength and flexibility, learning ballet and tap vocabulary, and developing poise and self confidence. They will perform in the recital  in June and you will purchase one ballet costume and rent one tap costume.
 
Dresscode: (1st -3rd grade) Short sleeved black leotard, Pink ballet shoes, Pink footed tights, Black button tap shoes (ribbon tie tap shoes not allowed), pink or black chiffon ballet skirt. All of these items are sold at the studio. 
 
Dresscode: (4th-6th grade) Black short sleeve Leotard, Pink ballet shoes or Split Sole ballet shoes in leather or canvas, Pink Tights, Black button Tap Shoes (ribbon tie tap shoes not allowed), Pink or black chiffon Ballet Skirt. All of these items are sold at the studio. 

Jazz 1: 1st & 2nd gr

Jazz 2: 3rd-6th gr

(1 hr. per week)

This class is for new OR returning students.

This jazz class will work on strength, flexiblity, isolations, leaps, turns, and other jazz vocabulary that is age appropriate. They will perform in the recital in June and you will purchase one jazz costume.
 
Dresscode: Black Leotard any style. Black Jazz Boot, Black Convertible Tights,  Black jazz Shorts. All of these items are sold at the studio. 
 


 

Ballet 3 or Ballet 4: 5th-7th gr

(1.5 or 3 hrs per week)

These intermediate level classes are continuing ballet technique in a more formal and focused environment and follow the Vaganova syllabus.  Ballet 4 is twice per week and is a pre-pointe class.

Dresscode for Ballet 3: Black short sleeve Leotard, Pink ballet shoes or Split Sole ballet shoes in leather or canvas, Pink convertible tights

Dresscode for Ballet 4: Black short sleeve Leotard or black camisole leotard, Pink ballet shoes or Split Sole ballet shoes in leather or canvas, Pink convertible Tights
 


 
 
 
Teens: 7th - 12th gr.
Varied programs for teens in Ballet, Tap, Jazz or Modern from Beginning to advanced levels. They will perform in the recital in June and you purchase 1 costume per class.

 

Ballet dresscode: (Ballet 5, 6, 7, or Teen Ballet)

Black camisole leotard, Pink convertible tights, Pink split sole ballet shoes leather or canvas

Jazz dresscode:

Black leotard, Black Convertible Tights,  Black Jazz Boot, Black Jazz Shorts

Tap dresscode:  

Black Tele Tone Extreme Tap Shoes (can be ordered at studio) and loose comfortable clothing

Modern dresscode:

Any color leotard, Black convertible tights, black jazz pants or black shorts, socks, barefoot, or foot thong (available at the studio).

 


 

Hip Hop: 1st-12th gr.

(1 hr per week)

These classes are open to new OR returning students.

These high energy classes are great for learning the various aspects of Hip Hop, including floor work, break-dancing, popping/locking and krumping! We are careful to teach the material in an atmosphere that is age appropriate. These classes will perform in the recital in June and you will purchase 1 Hip Hop costume.

Dresscode: Loose, comfortable clothing, dance sneakers or tennis shoes with non scuff soles (to protect our floors, these shoes must never be worn outside)
