Company Auditions

"Company Prep"

Below are the audition numbers for students that auditioned that we felt were not quite ready for Competition and Company, mostly due to lack of experience and being our youngest dancers at the auditions.  Most of the other dancers at the audition have already done a year or more of Company dancing, but it was important for our young dancers to be "seen" and to have the audition experience, which is the beginning of their journey to Company/Competitive dance!  

It was exciting to see these dancers and we want to help them achieve their goal of being in a Company and competing dances, so we have created a special class for them in our schedule this upcoming year to assist them in getting more prepared for Company/Competitive dancing!  We are calling this class "Company Prep" and the vision is for these students to take this as an "extra" class that will be designed to introduce them to new forms of dance movement (Contemporary, Modern, Gaga, etc.) and help build their skill level so that they can get closer to their goal of being in a Company!  This class would require that students also be taking their other weekly scheduled jazz tech class (of 1.5 hrs.) and their weekly ballet classes twice per week (at 1.5 hrs. for each ballet class).  Tap would be optional.   This is standard for students at this age and level at our school especially if they are hoping to get into Company/Competitive dance.  For many of these students who are now in 4th grade this would be a huge jump in their dance schedule!  At this time (there is a slight chance this could change) we have this class scheduled for Saturday 11:00-12:30 with Ms. Julie Anderson as the teacher.   

Dancers in the "Company Prep" class need to be committed to dance as their primary activity, have lots of energy, be good at managing their school work, have good attendance in all of their dance classes, and be open and excited about learning new types of dance movement.
